OUR COACHES

Brian Buell

Owner/Coach

Brian started Commonwealth Crossfit in the summer of 2010 after Crossfit changed his life. When Brian first set foot in a Crossfit gym he was about 50 pounds overweight and couldn’t imagine doing even one pull-up. He was definitely intimidated at first, but the coaches taught him how to move well and make small, incremental progress. Now Brian is happiest when he’s helping others kick off their own fitness and health journeys.

Nicole Considine

Coach

Nicole joined Commonwealth in the summer of 2019, after coaching in Baltimore Maryland for 4 years for Industry Athletics. A former Division 1 swimmer, Nicole found crossfit after graduating from Loyola University Maryland. It took one class, and she was hooked. According to her, it helped to fill the void after her competitive swimming days came to a close and gave her back the sense of team & family she was craving. It also helped her further identify her passion of providing Support Through Sport; a concept introduced to her while working at a nonprofit in Baltimore. It’s the idea of helping individuals achieve physical and developmental (confidence, self esteem, etc) goals via sport. Nicole loves helping athletes identify areas of strength they didn’t know they had, and loves tailoring workouts so that they are inclusive regardless of what an athlete's injury /  limitation or current skill set might be.

She quickly realized that CrossFit would not just be her “winter sport”, eventually joining the coaching staff to share her enthusiasm with the growing community. Her other job is teaching middle school science. This may or may not influence her people-oriented coaching style.

Jeremy Harrington

Jeremy started doing Crossfit in 2010 as a way to condition for MMA before decided he liked thrusters and burpees more than getting kicked in the head and arm barred. He began as a trainer at Crossfit RVA before opening his own gym in Virginia, Colonial Crossfit. Eventually he moved back to Massachusetts to be closer to his family and joined CWCF. When he's not in the gym, he spends as much as possible in the woods, with as many dogs as possible.

Outside of the gym, SuMing is a social worker and has a private practice in Arlington where she specializes in perinatal mental health and couple/family work. She has brought her love for the motherhood/parenthood transition and CrossFit together and become Commonwealth's go-to for the intersection of fitness and pregnancy/postpartum.
