Hannah Solomon is heading to Washington DC this summer for an internship with the National Security Division of the Department of Justice. Good luck Hannah and we look forward to having you back this fall!
Sophie Tyack is traveling to Chucuito Peru for the summer to work on a horse farm for a month. She will be training horses – specifically working on basics with the young ones and prepping the older ones to work as trekking horses. Have fun, Sophie!
There was an amazing turnout at the CrossFit Reach Competition last month. Commonwealth had ten teams competing! Congrats to all of our athletes!
Thank you to all who helped celebrate Brian and Katie’s new baby, James! They had a great time!
Talent show fun included a Star Wars themed band, stand up comedy and dancing. If you weren’t there, you totally missed out.
Coach Chris Berardi is moving to his new post as Program Manager in the Air Force in Washington, D.C. We are so sad to see Chris go – he has made a great impact on the Commonwealth Community, first as an athlete and then as a coach. We’ll miss you and your analysis and mathematical breakdowns of Open WODs!
Jess and JD Caddell and their adorable twins are heading to West Point (U.S. Military Academy in NY) to start a new chapter in their lives. Jess will be teaching “Defense Politics” and JD will be teaching in the Systems Engineering Department. We sure will miss these two!
Juan Aparicio is moving to Washington DC in June to work for the Department of State as a Political Officer in the U.S. Foreign Service. Political Officers are part of the American diplomatic corps and involves a lot of memo writing and engagement with local governments on a variety of issues. Good luck–we’ll miss you, Juan!!

Friday Night Mom’s WODs and Discussion
What: Coach Ming will host several WODs over the summer for people who are currently pregnant, postpartum or thinking about having a baby. We will go through scaling and postpartum recovery. Participants will also have an opportunity to talk about their own experience and connect with other moms and moms-to-be! If you are currently pregnant, postpartum, or thinking about having a baby someday, you’re welcome to join us!
When: June 2, July 7, August 11 (All Fridays at 7:30pm)

What: Additional programming to improve your Olympic lifting technique and totals.
When: Every Monday and Wednesday morning and Monday and Thursday evenings.
Where: Platform Space at Commonwealth CrossFit

What: A mindful, all-levels Vinyasa that is thoughtfully designed for today’s athlete, brought to you by Kyle Carbone. In this 60-minute class of coordinated breath and movement, students can expect to work on mobility, flexibility and strength. Class is designed to meet the needs of athletes on any given day and Kyle welcomes suggestions. He has recently incorporated yin yoga into class, a branch of yoga which targets deep tissue.
When: Sunday nights at 5:30pm.
Where: Commonwealth CrossFit.
How: Email Brian to sign up, or pay a drop in fee ($20) and BYOM (Bring your own mat)!
About Kyle: Kyle began practicing yoga in 2013 in order to sweat away years of accumulated college booze. He never expected it to become an integral part of his daily life. Kyle also teaches at South Boston Yoga and Prana Power Yoga during the week.
Note: We have had a short disruption in our Yoga classes on Sundays as our wonderful instructor, Kyle, has had to take some time away. Please keep on eye on the Wodify Calendar for weekly additions. By the middle of June, we hope to have this schedule regulated again. We will also be adding more Mobility classes to our mid-week schedule. These will also be a part of our Specialty Class Membership. They will be taught by our resident yoga experts and will work in conjunction with our gym’s programming. Look for these classes in late June.
What: Additional opportunity for competitive athletes to train (refer to Programming Notes/New Classes e-mail sent on May 19 for all the details)
When: Starting June 6th – Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM, Friday mornings at 5:30 AM, and Saturday mornings at 8:00 AM
How: The two weekday competitive classes will be capped at 8 athletes per class. If you wish to sign up, e-mail Brian or Larry! The classes will be charged under the “Specialty Classes” add-on.
Who: Competitive classes are for people who are consistently completing workouts at the Rx weights and are comfortable with most movements like strict handstand pushups, strict pull-ups, toes to bar, squat snatches and squat cleans. Like any class, we can scale anything, so all are welcome but to get the most out of this class, that’s where you’ll want to be.
What: Every Memorial Day, much of the global CrossFit Community honors our fallen soldiers by doing the Hero WOD, “MURPH.” After the WOD, we will have a cookout and potluck party in the parking lot/gym. Bring a dish to share and show off your cooking skills.
When: Monday, May 29th. Heats at 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM.
Where: Commonwealth CrossFit
