Are You Ready to Get in the Best Shape of Your Life?
Step 1- Free Consultation/ Trial Workout
The first step toward the best fitness of your life is to come in for a free consultation. One of our professional coaches will contact you to schedule a free trial session with you around your schedule. During this 60 minute session, we will introduce you to the concepts that will lead to the best fitness of your life. This can be done by yourself or you can bring a friend!
The baseline fitness test will give us some idea of how many personal training sessions you’ll most likely need to test into group classes.
If you fill out the Contact Form, one of our Coaches will contact you to setup your free consultation. Please be aware that due to recent growth we have had to limit the size of our overall membership, which means we are only able to take on a limited amount of new members. As a result, it might be some time before we can get you started.
Step 2- Personal Training
Alright, you’ve had your initial consultation and you’re ready to learn more!! This is the most important step in your Commonwealth experience- your first month or two. At this point you will work with one of our coaches (and sometimes an apprentice will join in!) to learn and understand the movements and concepts that are required for a successful beginning here at Commonwealth. We will work with you to make sure you understand basic movement patterns and how to combine them to create complex movement patterns. We will teach you how to recover after tough workouts and how to perform maintenance on your own body. We will learn and practice eating cleanly.
Our goal for these private sessions is to prepare you to join our group classes safely and effectively. The movements we use at Commonwealth are simply too hard for almost everyone to just jump right into group classes. We feel that entering group classes too soon is a recipe for injury, confusion, feeling behind or lost, and ultimately leads most people to an early plateau, an injury or just quitting. and ultimately, quitting. This isn’t good enough for us. We are looking for athletes who understand the value of getting the basics right and who will appreciate our coaches as we work to get you there!
Most athletes will require between 10-20 private training sessions. These sessions cost $75/ session.
Step 3- Group Classes
Once you’ve demonstrated competency in the movements you’ll be using at Commonwealth, you’ll be able to join group classes or continue with personal training sessions. Group classes are super fun. You’ll meet new friends, get to watch and learn from each other and continue to be coached. In the group classes, you’ll start working at a higher intensity and seeing awesome results. You’ll be pushed to grow and improve. No matter if you are a high-level athlete or a former couch potato (adios, potato!) our awesome coaches will scale workouts to make them appropriate for your development.
Step 4- Skill Development Sessions
Every six months you will meet for a private session with your coach to work on a skill that you’re developing. These skill development sessions will be extremely important to help you make the leap to a new level of performance. You’ll do these after you have been a member for three months, then again at nine and fifteen months, etc.
Step 5- Specialty Programs
You can choose to work with your coach on individualized programming if you’d like. People choose this to prepare for 5K’s, marathons and obstacle races, to get ready for their first weightlifting competition, to get ready for a high school or collegiate sport season or just to work toward a goal you have. Additionally, we offer small group Olympic Lifting and Rowing seminars throughout the year.
Experienced CrossFitter and new to Boston?
If you’re new to the area and are looking for a new CrossFit home, we encourage you to come check us out! To get you into our gym, we’ll take you through a 3 step process.
Step 1- Personal Training/ Clearing Sessions
Your first step will be to get connected with one of our coaches through some personal training sessions. We require these personal training sessions to ensure you have competency in or can adequately scale all movements before we allow people to enter group classes. This could take anywhere from 1- 20 sessions depending on how well you know your stuff. Many experienced CrossFitters will get through this in one session. Others might require additional sessions. Normal personal training rates ($75/ hour) apply to these personal training sessions. To get started with this, fill out this form!
Step 2- Three free drop ins to group class
Once one of our coaches has passed you through our Elements process, we’ll give you 3 drop ins ($60 value) for free! We do this so we can see if Commonwealth CrossFit is a good fit for you.
Step 3- Join!
You’ll be able to continue with personal training or purchase a membership to our group classes (or both).
*We are aware that most gyms will let you just drop in and get started. We used to do that, too. What we have learned however, is that if we get to know you right off the bat, we have a much easier time coaching you toward your goals. By getting to know you individually, we have an opportunity to invest in you, the athlete, in a much better way! We’re excited to have you join our community!
If you are an experienced CrossFitter visiting town and looking to drop in to a class you can do so here. We charge a $20 drop in fee and require pre-reservation. If you’re going to be here for several classes, please email us with your schedule. We are happy to host drop-ins who are looking to participate in our classes, but we cannot accommodate for athletes who are hoping to come in and follow other programming.
If you have any other questions about getting started, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hope to see you soon!
